Tehran, IRNA - Secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights Kazem Gharibabadi says former US President Donald Trump, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former Commander of the US Central Command Kenneth F. McKenzie are the main suspects behind the assassination of Martyr General Qasem Soleimani on January 3, 2020 in Iraq.

Addressing a seminar to commemorate martyr Soleimani in Tehran, Gharibabadi said that intentional homicide and financing terrorism are the main charges against suspects in Martyr Soleimani's assassination case.

Martyr Soleimani was a great military strategist in the region and his strategies were always successful in fighting terrorists and takfiri groups because he had a correct analysis and understanding of regional developments in the political, military, strategic, and social fields, he added.

ISIS was created by the US and its allies in the region, they formed a coalition with some countries in the region to counter ISIS, but it eventually saved ISIS, he noted.

Gharibabadi described defending and supporting the Axis of Resistance as outstanding characteristics of Martyr Soleimani.

The Americans created and supported ISIS to use its brutality to tarnish Islam and Muslims, he reiterated.

The official added that this criminal case against those suspected of assassinating Martyr Soleimani has 96 American defendants, of which 26 the have their legal proceedings suspended while 73 others have received indictment.
