According to Israeli media, the 35-year-old man from Tel Aviv arrived in the Gaza fighting zone on October 7 the day when the regime began its war after the unprecedented Al-Aqsa Storm operation by Palestinian resistance fighters the same day.
The media reports say the man, during his six-week presence in Gaza, assumed multiple false identities including a soldier, a policeman and an officer of the Shin Bet spy agency. He also stole all kinds of military hardware including weapons, ammunition as well as military equipment from the fighting zone, Ynet said.
He even took selfies with the Israeli regime’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Military Affairs Yoav Gallant when they came to visit soldiers.
The man was arrested on December 14 and was indicted on Sunday on the above charges. He has denied any wrongdoing and said he had intended to “help the war effort.”
His lawyer has also rejected the charges against him, saying his client is a paramedic who saved lives and joined a specialized military unit within Gaza with the “explicit approval” of Israeli forces.
The lawyer also said actions by his client were performed within the circumstances created by the regime on October 7.
Netanyahu’s cabinet has been facing widespread criticism over what is seen as a major security and intelligence defeat after it failed to detect Hamas’ Al-Aqsa operation in advance, with many Israelis blaming the cabinet for around 1,140 deaths and the captivity of some 240 people as a result of the Palestinian operation.
