Tehran, IRNA – Former Prime Minister of the Zionist regime Ehud Olmert has confessed that the regime’s plan to uproot the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas is unrealistic and that the regime must cease hostilities.

In an opinion published by Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the ex-premier warned that the regime should wait for hard days, adding that Hamas will not be easily defeated because the total eradication of the movement is an illusion and it cannot be achieved even in circumstances different from what is going on in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu was aware from the get-go that his rhetoric was unfounded, Olmert said, arguing that the military realities on the ground would force the Zionist regime to halt the ongoing war.

According to the former Israeli official, the prospect of defeating Hamas is far-fetched and Israel cannot even control the timetable of the ongoing confrontation, while Israeli military forces are being killed and painful scenes are being witnessed in the Gaza Strip on a daily basis.

So, it is the time for Tel Aviv to announce readiness to stop the battle in order to pave the way for the return of Israeli captives, Olmert urged.
