Bam earthquake of 2003

A devastating earthquake that happened on December 26, 2003 and lasted for 12 seconds shook the city of Bam in southeastern Iranian province of Kerman. With an estimated death toll of 34,000-50,000, it is still regarded as one of the three deadliest earthquakes in Iran’s history.Tens of thousands were wounded in Bam earthquake while many more were left homeless.The following album is a selection of IRNA’s file photos that are released on the anniversary of the earthquake.
