Amirabdollahian made the comment on Saturday in a press briefing held after the Tehran International Conference on Palestine.
He spoke of internal political conflicts at the White House over the extent of the US support for Israel, which the top Iranian diplomat said has made the US seek a dignified exit from the Gaza war.
The foreign minister also told reporters that Iran has received messages from Western states, including the US, ever since the Gaza war began on October 7. He added that the West, in those messages, asked Iran to help contain the spillover of the war.
Amirabdollahian said that the US and other Western countries should not expect others to do nothing when they are part of the war. He said this in reference to the operations that Yemen as well as resistance movements in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria have carried out in retaliation for Israeli attacks against Palestinians in Gaza.
The top Iranian diplomat reiterated his country’s stance that the Islamic Republic has not issued any orders regarding those operations, adding that Iran does not have any proxies in the region.
