Tehran, IRNA – The United States is reportedly pitching allies on expanding a multinational naval task force in the region to contain the spread of the Zionist regime’s war on the Gaza Strip.

According to the Washington Post, the US is attempting to address an alarming rise in attacks on commercial vessels traveling near Yemen.

The Biden administration plans to expand Combined Task Force 153, a military unit focused on the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Post quoted a senior administration official as saying.

The task force is part of the Combined Maritime Forces, a group with 39 member nations that is headquartered in Bahrain.

On Sunday, Yemen’s Defense Ministry announced that it had prevented a ship bound for the occupation entity, in line with the Arab country’s previous warning to prohibit all ships moving toward Israel.

“A proper interaction was done with a ship that did not pay attention to our warning,” the ministry said in a statement, according to the Al-Mayadeen news network.

It came after the Yemeni Armed Forces announced the introduction of a new “actionable decision” in support of Gaza, under which the Yemeni military vowed to prevent ships bound for the Zionist regime regardless of their nationality.
