Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Ali Nikbakht has urged the need for more enhanced agricultural cooperation between Iran and Cuba which he said would benefit the interests of both countries.

He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Sunday with his Cuban counterpart Jesús Pérez.

Underlining Iran's huge achievements in the agricultural sector, the minister said that his country is ready to share these experiences with friendly nations.  

Nikbakht noted that Iran produces a large part of its agricultural needs, adding that shrimp and fish farming, as well as production of horticultural products, are among Iran’s points of strength.

The Cuban minister, for his part, referred to political and revolutionary commonalities of the two countries which he believed could pave the way for more increased cooperation, especially in the agricultural sector.

He said that his country welcomes making use of Iran's agricultural experiences and supports the presence of Iranian investors in Cuba.
