The delegation, led by Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian, left Tehran for Dubai on Thursday.
Before their departure, there had been reports suggesting that the Israeli regime's officials would not risk attending the UN meeting due to their actions in Gaza. However, before leaving the meeting, Mehrabian stated that the Israeli regime's officials were not expected to attend the UN meeting.
The minister noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran had planned to use the conference as a platform to engage in discussions with officials from 150 countries worldwide to advocate for the Palestinian nation. However, the delegation decided to leave the meeting, citing the political and irrelevant presence of the Israeli regime at the UN COP 28 as being in contradiction to the conference’s goals and strategies.
The 2023 UN Climate Change Conference, which began on November 30 in Dubai, UAE, is set to last for approximately two weeks. Concurrent with its presence at COP28, the Zionist regime has resumed its crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
