Robat Karim, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has inaugurated the 19-km Tehran-Parand subway in the newly established city of Parand.

President Raisi was accompanied by Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani and some other provincial officials during the trip to the city located some 35 kilometers southwest of the Iranian capital.

The subway project will provide 450,000 residents of the city with easy and fast access to Tehran. The subway is expected to be used by about 40,000 commuters on a daily basis.

The studies on the Tehran-Parand subway project were initiated in 2005, and its construction was kicked off 12 years ago.

The chief executive is also scheduled to take part in the ceremony of handing over 4,000 residential units to people in Robat Karim and Parand.

Parand is a new city in the central district of Robat Karim County, in Tehran province.
