Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has stressed the importance of establishing a stable peace and permanent tranquility in the Caucasus region without foreigners’ interference.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks after his Saturday meeting with Iran’s Ambassadors to Armenia and Azerbaijan Republic Mehdi Sobhani and Abbas Mousavi respectively, the IRNA reported on Sunday.

As he wrote on his page in social media, the foreign minister underlined in the meeting the importance of promoting ties with the two northern neighboring states.

He went on to say that Islamic Republic of Iran’s foreign policy pays serious attention to the South Caucasus region.

Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan located in South Caucasus -- a geographical region on border of Eastern Europe and West Asia – are known as Caucasian states.
