Gonbad-e Kavoos, IRNA – Commander of Golestan natural resources protection, and watershed management unit has said that wildfires cause major damage to the forests in Golestan province, northeastern Iran.

In an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, Eissa Golbini Mofrad said that despite issuing warnings to people to avoid being in the forests or not lighting a fire due to strong winds, negligence caused wildfires in various parts of the province and 16,000 square meters of forest areas in the province caught fire.

He added that 12 bushfires occurred in various parts of the province, including Kalaleh, Ramiyan, Minudasht, Aliabad-e Katul, Gorgan, and Galikesh, that the biggest one was in one hectare related to the Ramiyan.

He added that the unit’s forces patrolled and monitored various locations of the province immediately in the forests haunted by the fire and managed to extinguish all of the places.
