“The medical staff are working to preserve human dignity and protect humanitarian rights, and it is clear that a direct attack on them is one of the most obvious examples of a war crime that is recognized according to the provisions of the International Criminal Court’s statute and the four Geneva Conventions,” Kanaani wrote in an article published by Iran Newspaper on Saturday.
He voiced deep regrets over the deafening silence of the self-styled advocates of human rights in the West when the Zionist regime’s authorities openly speak about ethnic cleansing and forced migration of the residents of Gaza.
“The one-ton bomb that landed on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital actually shook the foundations of the United Nations Charter and unmasked the true face of the self-proclaimed human rights advocates,” he stated.
According to Kanaani, gross human rights violations in the Gaza Strip are going on while international organizations do not possess the required authority to put an end to them.
The spokesman added, “The United Nations Security Council, as one of the main executive pillars of this organization which is responsible for maintaining international peace and security, has been practically disabled by the veto of the United States and cannot prevent the continuation of a human disaster.”
At least 12,000 Palestinians, including more than 5,000 children, have been killed in the Zionist regime’s incessant bombardment of Gaza since October 7.
