New York, IRNA – Thousands of Americans have taken to the streets in Washington and New York, expressing their support for Gaza and the Palestinian people.

The protestors, critical of US President Joe Biden’s policies supporting the Israeli regime and his disagreement with a ceasefire in Gaza, called for an immediate truce in the occupied lands on Friday.

In a show of solidarity, hundreds of shops have suspended their operations to join the protestors in supporting the Palestinians.

Three days ago, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution calling for urgent, extended humanitarian pauses corridors throughout the Gaza Strip.

The decision came after 40 days of conflict between Palestinian Resistance groups and the Israeli regime, which began on October 7. The Israeli regime initiated bombardments on Gaza in retaliation for the Al Aqsa Storm operation carried out by the Palestinian Resistance movement, Hamas.

The draft resolution, proposed by Malta, received 12 votes in favor from the 15 members of the UNSC, with three abstentions. No members vetoed the resolution.

Since the conflict began on October 7, over 12,000 people, including thousands of women and children, have been killed in Gaza.
