Tehran, IRNA - A senior member of Iran’s constitutional body the Guardians Council has slammed efforts by members of the parliament in the United Kingdom to designate the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.

Abbasali Kadkhodayi said in a tweet on Tuesday that politicians and the government in the UK needed to change their behavior and stances on issues like terrorism.

“The contradiction in London's Behav & PERF in dealing with HR, democracy, extremism & terrorism is becoming more manifest. Attempts by #UK MPs to designate #IRGC – the military of a SOV state, as a ‘terrorist ORG’ would have serious consequences. #London should change its Behav,” said Kadkhodayi.

The comments came after a group of British parliament members called on the government in London to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization for what they claimed was IRGC’s support for resistance movements in Palestine.

The British government has so far resisted calls for blacklisting the IRGC with authorities warning that the move could have serious regional and international repercussions for the UK.
