Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has said that if Islamic countries had been united and stood up against the Zionist regime in the early days of the Gaza war, the regime would not have dared commit genocide in the Palestinian territory.

Raisi made the comment as he met his Nigerian counterpart Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday. They met in the Saudi capital Riyadh on the sidelines of a joint summit by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League on the Gaza war.

The Iranian president criticized the United Nations for its failure to stop the Israeli war on Gaza, saying that the inaction towards bullying of the Zionist regime is a sign that the UN structure has faults and requires reform.

The United States’ veto of several resolutions calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, which is regarded as a green light to child killing by the Zionist regime, is another sign showing faults in the UN structure, Raisi added.

The Nigerian president agreed that the UN structure needs reform, and that unity is required to restore stability in the region.

The two presidents discussed relations between their respected countries as well.
