Upon arrival in Tashkent on Thursday morning, President Raisi was welcomed by the Uzbek prime minister and other officials in the country, the IRNA reported on Thursday.
Participation in the ECO summit and meetings with the participating heads of states are among the plans of the Iranian president for his day-long stay in the Uzbek capital.
Prior to his travel to Uzbekistan, President Raisi visited Tajikistan on Wednesday at the official invitation of his Tajik counterpart.
In Dushanbe, the Iranian president attended the meeting with the participation of high-ranking delegations of the two countries and described cultural, religious, and historical commonalities between the two countries as a good ground for furthering ties in all areas.
As the president noted, good steps have been taken to upgrade the level of bilateral relations during the past two years; meanwhile, the two are still far from the favorable point in the level of bilateral cooperation.
Referring to Tehran-Dushanbe ties in oil, gas, water, and medical fields, the president noted that access to the 500-million-dollar worth in bilateral relations is possible in the first step.
Iranian and Tajik presidents along with their high-ranking delegations issued a joint statement in Tashkent and signed 18 documents on cooperation.
