The source said that the US sent at least two messages to Iran in the beginning days of the war, adding that “tens of messages” were also sent from the US and some Western states to resistance groups, especially Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
According to the source, all those messages contain two main points. First, the US claims in these messages that it is not after expanding the war in the region. Secondly, Washington has asked Iran and resistance groups to show restraint.
In response to a question on what stance the Islamic Republic has adopted towards the messages, the source explained that Iran says the US cannot on one side provide the Israeli regime with military equipment, and on the other side, issue political messages and speak of its opposition to the expansion of the war.
Iran has also openly said that the resistance groups in the region are acting independently and not based on Tehran’s orders, the source said.
Iran has warned that the continuation of the Israeli regime’s crimes will provoke anger in the regional countries and will open new fronts against the regime and even the US, the source said, citing attacks against American positions in Iraq and Syria as well as clashes between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah in Lebanon in the past days.
The source reiterated Iran’s position that if the US does not want the war to be expanded, the bloodshed of the Gazans should be stopped and the red lines of the resistance groups should not be played with.
