Saeed Raad, the CEO the Government Trading Corporation of Iran, a MAJ subsidiary overseeing the supply of staple grains in Iran, said on Monday that the government had settled all debt arrears totaling 34 trillion rials in exchange for the delivery of wheat as of Sunday.
Raad revealed that the purchased wheat, gathered from 726,000 farmers across 31 provinces, has been divided into 2.073 million shipments.
He added that five provinces of Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Fars, Kermanshah, and West Azerbaijan accounted for 52% of all wheat purchases this year.
This harvest year's wheat purchases have increased 44% compared to last year's, and has grown by 128.5% compared to the harvest year of 1400 in the Iranian calendar.
