Doha, IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met Sunday with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss the issue of Palestine.

On the fourth day of his regional tour, which also took him to Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, Amirabdollahian met with the Qatari emir in Doha to discuss a host of issues, particularly the latest developments in Palestine.

"If the attacks of the Zionist regime against the defenseless citizens and people of Gaza continue, no one can guarantee the control of the situation and the non-expansion of the conflicts," the Iranian foreign minister said during the meeting with the Qatari emir.

He said that those who are interested in preventing the scope of war and crisis from expanding, it is necessary to prevent the ongoing barbaric attacks of "the Zionist regime against citizens and civilians in Gaza".

Referring to his talks with the high-ranking officials of the Hamas movement in Beirut and Doha, Amir Abdollahian said, "The officials of the aforementioned movement emphasized that, from an Islamic and humanitarian point of view, they have the issue of civilian prisoners as a priority in their agenda, and if the field conditions are provided, in this They will take the necessary action.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar, also called the humanitarian situation in Gaza worrisome, and said that "our priority is to stop the crimes in Gaza and our position regarding Palestine will not change".

He added that the occupying forces are responsible for the crimes they commit.

The chief Iranian diplomat also met on Saturday with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

During that meeting, Amirabdollahian said the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip, including cutting off supplies of water, food and medicine to the besieged enclave, must come to an end.

He thanked Qatar for its firm support for Palestine during the recent developments.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, 2,329 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 9,714 others injured since the Israeli regime began its bombardment of the besieged enclave on October 7.
