Tehran, IRAN – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has referred to the ongoing situation in Palestine as a “new apartheid system”, urging the need for an immediate end to the atrocities.

Maduro made his comment in a televised address on Monday, according to a report by Middle East Monitor.

Accusing the Zionist regime’s “genocide” against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Maduro said: “We demand an immediate ceasefire, respect for UN resolutions, respect for the rights of peoples, and the commencement of peace negotiations to allow the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights to independence, land and peace.”
