Tehran, IRNA - Special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for border and Caspian Sea issues Khalaf Khalafov is scheduled to arrive in the Iranian capital Tehran late on Tuesday.

Khalafov, who is also the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, is expected to discuss mutual relationship and regional developments with Iranian authorities during his visit to the country.

The visit comes after Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan’s trip to Tehran, where the Armenian official held talks with high-ranking Iranian officials.

Azerbaijan and Armenia experience disputes over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian underlined on Tuesday that the 3+3 format is an effective mechanism to resolve regional issues without interference by extra-regional powers.
