Tehran, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of more than 2,000 Iranian inmates.

Ayatollah Khamenei’s decision came on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS), upon a request by Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, the IRNA reported on Monday.

Earlier, Mohseni-Ejei had requested pardon or commute of the sentences of 2,284 who were found guilty of crimes by Iranian courts.
