Tehran, IRNA – The managing director of Roudaki Foundation has appointed Manouchehr Sahbaei as the new conductor of Tehran Symphony Orchestra.

Sahbaei, an oboe soloist, has a PhD in musicology from the University of Strasbourg.

He has played oboe solo for St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra and has also cooperated as the conductor of a number of European orchestras.  

Sahbaei used to be conducting Tehran Symphony Orchestra between 2007 and 2010.

The Tehran Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1933, is Iran's oldest and largest symphony orchestra.
