Hangzhou, IRNA - Iranian men Wushu fighter Yousef Sabri has won a gold medal at the 19th Asian Games underway in China's Hangzhou.

Sabri won Iran’s wushu’s second gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games by defeating his opponent from Macao Feilong Cai in the final match of the 75-kg of Sanda.

He first defeated Shokhzod Tashpolatov of Kazakhstan in the Round of 16 and then beat Uzbekistan’s Azizbek Isroilov and Nasratullah Habibi of Afghanistan in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. 

Previously, another Iranian Wushu fighter Afshin Salimi won Iran's first gold medal in the final match of the 65-kg of Sanda.

Also, Shija Panahi in the men’s 60kg received the silver medal. Zahra Kiani and Elahe Mansourian each won the silver medal, while Shahrbanoo Mansourian gained the bronze medal in the tournament.

The 2022 Asian Games also known as Hangzhou 2022 is a continental multi-sport event currently being held from 23 September to 8 October 2023 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
