The 100-year-old Dogharon Customs is the only official crossing at the zero point on the Iran-Afghanistan border, the east-west trade corridor and the ancient route of the Silk Road. The border town of Taibad with a population of 145,000 is located 225 km southeast of Mashhad, and the security of this area bordering Afghanistan is provided by the presence of the border guard forces with the establishment of units of the Islamic Republic Army.
