According to IRNA's correspondent, the Iranian national men's table tennis team faced the Japanese team in the quarterfinals on Sunday and emerged victorious 3-0 in the ongoing Hangzhou Asian Games.
In the first match, Nima Alamian competed against Tomokazu Harimoto, the runner-up of the 2020 Olympics, and secured a 3-2 victory in an intense battle.
In the second match, Noshad Alamian took on Shunsuke Togami and won 3-2.
Amirhossein Haddadi, the third representative of Iran, defeated Daiki Yoshimura 3-2, putting Iran ahead of Japan 3-0.
With this victory, Iran has secured a bronze medal as it advances to the semifinals.
The Iranian team will face South Korea in the semifinals for a chance to reach the finals.
The last time the Iranian table tennis team clinched a bronze medal was at the Tokyo Asian Games in 1958.
