Ahmadian met and talked with Shoigu in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Wednesday.
They conferred on ways to expand the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation and confront common threats.
The two sides also discussed bilateral, regional, and international issues, especially developments in the Caucasus region.
Stressing the expansion of all-round ties between Iran and Russia and the decisive fight against organized terrorism, Ahmadian and Shoigu described the involvement of extra-regional states as the most significant cause of insecurity and instability in the region.
They considered boosting regional cooperation to achieve collective security as one of the effective ways to end foreign interference.
Heading a high-ranking military delegation, Shoigu traveled to Tehran on Tuesday upon an official invitation by the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri.
