Tehran, IRNA - Iranian Deputy President for Parliamentary Affairs Mohammad Hosseini has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran and China are after promoting relations to boost collective security.

Addressing a meeting to celebrate the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in the Chinese embassy in Tehran late on Tuesday, Hosseini said that Iran respects China and its achievements as fruits of decades of efforts experience and insight.

China supported Iran's membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and in the BRICS bloc of emerging economies, he said, adding that Iran appreciates China's support on those issues and has stressed the need for enhanced multilateral cooperation to tackle global challenges more effectively.

The senior official said the unwavering will of the top leaders of Iran and China is to improve the level of relations.

Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador to Iran Chang Hua said at the meeting that a new chapter has begun in Tehran-Beijing relations.

He said Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized that China always seeks better relations with Iran and has strategic perspective to bilateral relations.
