Expressing sorrow over the death and injury of thousands of people in Libya due to the storm and flood, Amirabdollahian offered condolences in a post on his X (Twitter) account on Tuesday to the government and people of Libya.
He also mentioned that the Iranian Red Crescent Society is ready to provide humanitarian aid to the victims.
Authorities in eastern Libya said at least 2,000 people had been killed and thousands more were missing after a massive flood ripped through the city of Derna following a heavy storm and rain, Reuters reported.
Libya's eastern-based parliament declared three days of mourning. Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah, the prime minister of the interim government in Tripoli, also declared three days of mourning in all the affected cities, calling them "disaster areas".
