Tehran, IRNA – Nigerian Shia Muslim leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky has offered his condolences to the people of Morocco and the entire Islamic Ummah over the recent deadly earthquake in the Muslim country.

In a post published on social media on Sunday, Sheikh Zakzaky expressed his sympathy over the tragic loss of lives for thousands of “brothers and sisters” in the earthquake that took place in Morocco earlier this week.

“We pray to Almighty Allah to bestow mercy and remission on those whose lives have passed away in the earthquake and grant their families fortitude to bear the tragic loss.

“We pray that Allah rescues those who are still trapped under the rubbles and grants quick recovery to the injured," he said in the message.

More than 2,000 people have been killed in Morocco after the deadly earthquake of the 6.8 magnitude hit the country’s High Atlas mountains on September 9.
