Tehran, IRNA - Figures by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry show that imports from Iran increased by 5% year on year in the first half of 2023 have to reach $352 million.

The figures cited in a Monday report by the IRNA showed that oil products had accounted for a bulk of India's imports from Iran in the first half of 2023 as shipments reached $139 million over the period.

The figures showed that total trade between India and Iran reached $993 million over January-June, down by 27% compared to the same period last year.

The decrease in bilateral trade was mainly because of a drop in India's exports to Iran as shipments reached a total of $641 million, down 38% from the six months to June 2022.
