Tabriz, IRNA – The first phase of the 36th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Iran, also known as Tour of Iran-Azarbaijan, has begun from Tabriz to Urmia in the northwest of the country.

Some 82 cyclists from 15 teams have participated in the international tour started from El-Goli Park in Tabriz, the capital city of northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan, on Sunday.

The cyclists are pedaling on a road with 153.8-km distance to reach Al-Ghadir Park in Urmia, the capital city of northwestern Iranian province of West Azarbaijan.  

Based on the planning, the participants are expected to reach the finish line at 12:30 local time.

The cyclists participating in the international tour are from Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Iraq, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Mongolia, the Philippines and China.

The  36th edition of International Cycling Tour of Iran (Azarbaijan) is slated for August 26-31.
