Kerman, IRNA – An Iranian man has been released after more than two months of being held hostage, official said.

Afshin Salehinejad, the public and revolution prosecutor of Jiroft in southern Iran, said on Wednesday that a middle-aged man who had been kidnapped while walking with his son at a park in the city 61 days ago, has been released.

He noted that the kidnappers aimed to take ransom money from his family.

The official added that the intelligence proceedings uncovered that he had been transferred to eastern country and then across the border to Afghanistan.

After long day and night efforts, the intelligence forces managed to secure his release, Salehinejad said.
