Tehran, IRNA – The former governor general of Qom Mohammad Taghi Shahcheraghi has been appointed as the new deputy Interior Minister for Political Affairs.

In a decree issued on Tuesday, Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi appointed Shahcheraghi as his political deputy and head of the country’s election office, replacing Mohammad Reza Gholamreza who faced problems with the Parliament (Majlis) members.

In his decree, Vahidi also thanked Gholamreza for his services.
