Urmia, IRNA – Iran has launched the construction of an industrial and mineral complex in its West Azerbaijan province, northwest of the country.

On Thursday, a ceremony was held to launch the construction project of the Martyr Mehdi Bakeri Complex. The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, as well as provincial officials, attended the event, according to a press release by the AEOI information dissemination center.

The complex is located near Khoy, a city north of the provincial capital Urmiya. The project to build an industrial and mineral complex near Khoy was initiated following the discovery of radioactive materials and rare soil elements during operations over the past few months, as reported by the AEOI.
