Tehran, IRNA – Spokesperson for Tehran Municipality's fire department and safety services Jalal Maleki has said that several buildings collapsed in the capital city of Tehran on Saturday and left 5 killed and several injured.

Maleki said on Monday that the incident was reported at 12:24 p.m. local time (0854 GMT), and rescue teams, backed by cranes and debris removal equipment, were immediately sent to the scene.

The rescue teams are working to pull people from the rubble, he said, adding two people have been rescued.

He noted that 6 fire stations along with cranes and debris removal equipment are working on the site.
