Codenamed “General Martyr Es’haq Dara”, the drills aimed at showing the strength and combat-defense readiness of the IRGC Navy in protecting the security of the Persian Gulf and Iranian islands.
The exercises involved various exercises by operational combat, vessel, missile, drone, air-sea, electronic warfare and rapid response units, as well as Imam Hossein Battalions of Hormuzgan province and Basij volunteer forces, with air support by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
Brigadier General Ali Ozmaei, commander of Imam Muhammad Baqir operational base of the IRGC Navy, explained that the vessels of the Martyr Hojaji Special Unit, equipped with missiles with a range of 600 kilometers, were present in the drills to defend the Abu Musa Island’s territory.
Missile- and rocket-launching vessels, helicopters and aircraft took part in the drills, and also 50 paratroopers successfully performed a heliborne operation, he added.
“We always strive for the security and peace of the country,” IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami said during the exercises.
He added that the Iranian nation gives decisive responses to all threats, complex seditions, and enmities.
IRGC Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri also said that the Persian Gulf belongs to all regional countries, vowing that his forces will spare no efforts to protect the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The Persian Gulf islands are a sparkling jewel that will shine forever on the water and soil of our Islamic homeland,” he said.
