Speaking to IRNA, Gholam Hossein Valadi said on Sunday that 225,982 tons of goods have been exchanged through the Astara railway terminal.
This is while the figure was 138,530 metric tons last year, he added.
He noted that 88,156 metric tons of goods were transited through the Astara border, which shows a 133% increase.
He referred to flour, millet, barley, wheat, chemicals, zinc ore, industrial soil, and wood and timber as the main transited goods.
Valadi went on to say that the volume of imports from Azerbaijan was 69,455 metric tons, which shows 114% growth compared to last year.
