Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has condemned a terrorist attack in the vicinity of the Syrian capital a day before Ashura – the 10th day mourning of Muharram – which claimed lives of several people and injured some others.

In his condolence message extended late on Thursday, Nasser Kanaani sympathized with the Syrian nation and government and the families of the victims over the sad incident.

Such a terrorist attack happened in the Syrian capital while the innocent people in the Arab country have been suffering from cruel sanctions imposed on them by the United States and certain Western countries under the painful silence of the global society on the terrorist groups acts; the acts which are supported by the Zionist regime and the US, Kanaani said.

With regard to the years of battle of the Syrian nation and government against terrorism, the global society and the international bodies are better to censure any aggression against the country and take effective measure to send humanitarian aid to the war-stricken nation, the spokesman underlined.

Late on Thursday, a terrorist blast occurred in Zeinabiyah on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, and killed six people and wounded 23 others.

According to Arab media, the terrorist bombing occurred near Sayeda Zeinab -- the (SA) daughter of the first Imam of Shia, Imam Ali -- shrine while the bomb had been exploded by unidentified individuals near a taxi just meters around the holy shrine.
