- Israeli judicial crisis flares

Israel is embroiled in its most serious domestic political crisis in decades as the planned overhaul of the Supreme Court Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet is debated in parliament. The prime minister was in hospital after being fitted with a pacemaker on Sunday, as tens of thousands of people converged on Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to protest the planned overhaul of the Supreme Court. The 73-year-old leader was rushed to Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv on Saturday after a heart monitor implanted a week earlier in what was described as a dehydration episode detected a “temporary arrhythmia”, Reuters quoted as his doctors saying.

- Iran among major exporters of grapes, raisins in world

Iran is one of the largest producers and exporters of grapes and raisins in the world, an Iranian lawmaker says. In an interview with Iran Daily, Rajab Rahmani, the representative of the city of Takestan in Iran’s Parliament, said that the country is the third largest exporter of raisins in the world, after the United States and Turkey. According to the Agriculture Organization of Qazvin Province, the UK, Germany and Russia are the main destinations of Iran’s raisin exports, he said.

- Air Force begins military drills in central Iran

The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) launched large-scale drills in the country’s central province of Isfahan on Sunday, with the participation of a whole range of military aircraft. The drills, codenamed Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Velayat 11 (Devotees of Velayat Airspace 11), are to send the message of “friendship, peace, calm and security” to the region, Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi said on Sunday, according to Tasnim news agency.

- Israel teeters on edge of precipice

Israeli media has shed light on the extent of the mass protests against the regime's far-right cabinet of Benjamin Netanyahu, with reports of around 10,000 army reservists announcing their suspension from duty on Saturday night.  The regime's army radio has said that Netanyahu has discussed punishments for army deserters. The military may start arresting, suspending and dismissing the Air Force reservists who have pledged not to report for duty as part of protests against Netanyahu's cabinet.

- Swedish condemnation of Quran burning insufficient: Raisi

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has panned the Swedish government’s response to the burning of the holy Quran on its land, saying that just condemning the sacrilegious conduct is not enough. “Issuing a statement to condemn the insult against the holy Quran by the Swedish government is by no means sufficient and this government must bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice,” the president stated in remarks on Saturday.  The remarks were made by Raisi in response to the desecration of the Quran by Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee living in Sweden.

- Iran launches massive aerial war game

The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) was set to begin extensive drills in the country’s central areas on Sunday night in the country’s central areas. According to Air Force Commander Hamid Vahedi, the war game, code-named Fadaeeyan-e Harim-e Velayat 11 (Devotees of Velayat Airspace 11), takes place at the Shahid Babaei Air Base in the Anark area of Isfahan to promote “friendship, peace, calm, and security” in the region.

- Four Policemen Martyred in Terrorist Attack

 At least four road police patrol officers were martyred in a terrorist attack in Zahedan in Iran’s southeast, Tasnim news agency said on Sunday. A judicial order has been issued to arrest the perpetrators, Tasnim reported. Zahedan, capital of Sistan-Baluchistan province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, is one of Iran’s major drug trafficking routes. “Today, attackers ambushed the police car.. and shot at the vehicle,” Tasnim report added.

- Thousands Flee Raging Wildfires in Greece

Locals and tourists fled hotspots on the Greek island of Rhodes on Sunday, as firefighters, backed by water jets and helicopters, battled a blaze that sparked the country’s largest-ever fire evacuation. Wind gusts of up to 49 kilometers (31 miles) per hour were complicating efforts to bring the flames under control.

- Iran Eyes Better Balkan Ties as Serbian Speaker Visits

Speaker of the Iranian parliament Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf said here Sunday that Iran and Serbia can help establish peace, security, and stability in the Balkans and the Middle East regions through boosting their bilateral ties. Qalibaf made the remarks after a meeting with the visiting Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Vladimir Orlic.
