Sari, IRNA – The governor-general of the northern Iranian province of Mazandaran has announced the opening of a new chapter in the province's cooperation with Volgograd, the city in southwestern Russia.

Speaking at a working meeting in Mazandaran with the participation of a delegation from the Russian city on Tuesday, Mahmoud Hosseinipour said the Islamic Republic relations with Russia are on a new route.

As the governor-general underlined, cooperation between the two cities can help increase economic, tourism, cultural and trade relations between the two countries.

At his remarks, the top provincial official referred to the sea border between Iran and Russia as an opportunity for both to enhance ties.

Iran in the south and Russia in the northwest of the Caspian Sea have a joint sea border.
