Bandar Abbas, IRNA – The Aftab Oil Refining Company in southern Iranian province of Hormozgan has announced that lack of care by a driver of a fuel tanker truck was the cause of a major fire that erupted in the facility on July 10.

The public relations department of the Aftab Oil Refining Co. issued a statement on Tuesday, saying that the fire, which broke out at 13:47 local time a day earlier, occurred when an irregular number of tankers were moving in and out of the refinery.

The incident had no casualties, according to director general of Hormozgan's crisis management department Mehrdad Hassanzadeh.

However, the firefighters managed to contain the fire with the help provided by staff and forces from provincial departments.

Located in the southern city of Bandar Abbas, the Aftab Oil Refining Co. is the second largest refinery in Iran with a crude oil refining capacity of over 300,000 barrels per day.
