Gachsaran, IRNA - Olefin project of Gachsaran Petrochemical Company in southwestern Iran has become operational, according to an official with the knowledge of the matter.

Hassan Neshanzadeh Moghaddam, the director of the Persian Gulf Holding, the parent company of Gachsaran Plant, said on Monday that the new project will produce an annual 1 million mt of ethylene.

He said that the elfin project of Gachsaran Petrochemical Company will provide feed to a national ethylene pipeline in western Iran and to plants in Mamasani, Dehdasht, Boroujen, Gachsaran and Kazeroun as well.

The official noted that more than 80 percent of the feed needed by this project will be met domestically.

Completing half-finished projects is one of the top agenda of the Persian Gulf Holding, he said.
