MAJ's head of wheat farming Sohrab Sohrabi said in an interview with IRNA on Wednesday that the volume of wheat purchased from local farmers since the start of the current Iranian year in March has increased by 27% year-on-year and by 63% compared to the same period in 2021.
Sohrabi said that some 5.9 million hectares of lands have been dedicated to rainfed and irrigated farming for wheat in Iran this year.
The MAJ official estimated that the country's wheat output will reach 12.5 to 13 million mt in the harvest period to July.
