Shah Hosseini was appointed to the role on Wednesday upon a decree by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Born in 1967, Shah Hosseini a graduate of medicine from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran.
He is a researcher and a teacher in the field of cinema and has previously served as the secretary of Fajr Film Festival in its 2008 and 2009 editions and as the director of the Farabi Cinema Foundation for several years.
According to its official website, the Academy of Arts of the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the major governing bodies responsible for policy-making in the field of arts and plays a strategic role in streamlining research and artistic activities in the country.
