During a regional visit to the three Latin American countries last week, Raisi told Telesur TV channel in an interview, parts of which were published by the IRNA on Tuesday, that strengthening relations between independent and sanctioned countries is one of the ways to nullify the sanctions.
He said in the interview that the the Islamic Republic of Iran wants to be an independent country, adding that Iranians will continue to reject any oppression.
We do not oppress anyone, nor do we tolerate oppression by others, said Raisi, adding that the attitude has never changed since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
He also said that countries that want to live independently do not make malevolent acts, but those countries that interfere in the affairs of independent countries are the ones that carry out such malicious acts.
Unilateralism should end and multilateralism should replace it in the world, Raisi said, adding that the injustices against human rights practices and the people must end.
Pointing to the peaceful nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Iranian president highlighted that the country does not seek acquiring nuclear weapons at all and the investigations into Iran's nuclear activities confirm that the country is not pursuing nuclear weapons.
