Islamabad, IRNA - Pakistan's Navy announced that the ongoing visit of the Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani to Islamabad is aimed at fostering mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Heading a high-ranking delegation in his visit to Paksitan, Irani was welcome by Chief of the Pakistan's Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi at the Pakistani Navy Command Headquarters, the public relations office of Pakistan's Navy in Islamabad said on Monday.

The Iranian Navy commander met with his Pakistani counterpart and commanders of Pakistan's Naval Staff on Monday, a statement released by Pakistan's Navy said.

On the second day his tour of Pakistan, Rear Admiral Irani also met and held talks with Chief of Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar.

During the meeting, Babar stressed the importance of expansion of bilateral relations, especially in the field of military, educational and aviation industry, between Pakistan and Iran.

The Pakistani commander said that progress in judicial, electronic warfare and cyberspace technology has remarkably influenced the security in the region and in the world.
