Bahadori Jahromi said on Sunday that the bill, dubbed “Comprehensive Bill for the Support of Iranians Abroad”, has been put on the agenda of the Cabinet to go through its legal procedures.
The draft of the bill had been submitted to the government for review and approval by the Cabinet last August. In its introduction, the bill said four million Iranians were living abroad as of 2020.
The bill was drafted based on the policies recommended by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei with the aim of contributing to the progress of the country and making the most of the potentials of the Iranian expatriates in the fields of science, technology, economy, investment, society and culture.
Bahadori said the bill is intended to make sure Iranian expatriates enjoy their full legal rights and to improve planning and policy making of their affairs.
He said the bill seeks to facilitate their trips to and from Iran, and to pursue issues related to their military service status while making efforts to protect their rights abroad.
The bill will seek to strengthen the Iranian identity outside the borders by attracting talents from among the expatriate, he said, adding that it will facilitate their business activities and support them in unexpected events while providing tax exemptions and electronic and banking services to them.
