Tehran, IRNA – The Islamic Republic of Iran is playing an important role in the global coalition against the West to create a new world order, says the dean of the Department of World Politics at the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Andrey Sidorov told IRNA’s correspondent in Moscow in remarks published on Saturday that Russia and China are committed to creating a fairer foundation for a new multipolar world order with the involvement of several countries such as Iran, Brazil, India, and others.

Sidorov argued creating such a great coalition to change the current world order, which he described as far from justice, is of great significance.

Asked about the latest G7 meeting in Japan and the group’s stances toward Iran, he said the Group of Seven is a political tool in the hands of the United States and they have resorted to accusations against Iran due to “Iran’s political support for Russia in the Ukraine conflict.”

“However, Washington does not want Tehran to play an important role in the Ukraine conflict because the US is in a diplomatic and political conflict with Iran,” he said.

The Russian academic further said he believes the US is seeking to contain Iran, Russia, and China, and that is why it has targeted the Islamic Republic with sanctions.
