Tehran, IRNA – The police chief of Qazvin province in northern Iran says his forces have confiscated 371 kilograms of heroin as the shipment was on its way to reach the northwestern city of Urmia.

Second Brigadier General Ali Ebrahimi said on Tuesday that Qazvin’s anti-narcotics police had received intelligence that members of a professional gang were transporting a heavy shipment of narcotics from the eastern borders toward the western areas of the country.

Ebrahimi added that they were dispatched to the Qazvin-Zanjan road where they stopped a trailer truck that was carrying narcotics.

“After transferring the trailer to the police headquarters, the police officers discovered 371 kilograms of heroin in 350 sealed packages,” he said, adding that one drug trafficker was arrested and handed over to judicial authorities.
